Maria V. Mercado, 72, of Hartford, wife of Abraham Mercado for over 50 years passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on August 26, 1946 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico to the late Juan Alvarado and Maria E. Martinez. Maria made Hartford home most of her life. She worked in the greater Hartford area for over 26 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Miguel Rivera Sr. and Jose Alvarado and daughter, Maria Milagros Mercado, all of Hartford: Grandchildren Miguel Rivera Jr. and Michael Rivera and great grandson Noah Rivera. She is also survived by seven brothers living in Connecticut and Puerto Rico and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers. Maria's family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital and Avery Heights for the care and compassion provided to her and family members during these difficult times. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen funeral home located at 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford.
