Obituary for Marianna DiCocco (Vaccaro)

Marianna (Vaccaro) DiCocco, 102, of Wethersfield, formally of West Hartford, passed away peacefully in her home on May 15, 2019. She was born on April 21, 1917 in Bellaire, Ohio and lived most of her life in West Hartford where she raised her family. She was married for 59 years to the late Michael DiCocco. She worked briefly at Underwood Typewriter and retired from Colt Manufacturing Company. Her family was her most treasured possession. Besides her beloved son, Samuel M. DiCocco, she leaves four grandchildren and their spouses: Cheryl & John Pytel, Beth & Arnaldo J. Sierra, Lynn & David DiNanno, and Carl & Gloria DiCocco. She also leaves great grandchildren: Nick, Matt, and Sarah Markese; Desmond, Savanna, and Myles Sierra; Jack, Dean, and Isabel DiNanno; Sophia and Abbey DiCocco; and step-great grandchildren Taylor and Paige Pytel. The family would like to thank her good friend and caretaker, Hermin Henry for always being by her side.
She was predeceased by her daughter Betty Ann Overend, daughter-in-law, Barbara C DiCocco, and great-grandson, Carlos Sierra. Marianna’s loving spirit touched many, she will be dearly missed.
Funeral procession will be Monday, (May 20), 9:30 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am at St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Sunday, (May 19), from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
