Obituary

Mark A. Castellani, 56, of Windsor, faithful and loyal husband of Kim (Katske) Castellani for over 30 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2019 at UCONN Health Center, surrounded by his family. Mark grew up in Newington where he was a volunteer firefighter and had treasured memories of his fellow volunteers. Mark also served as a volunteer and commercial ambulance attendant. He attended Goodwin Tech, where he was introduced to a variety of skills including plumbing, electrical, air conditioning and heating, which served him well. He was a good person who gladly shared his skills, especially for the most needy. He earned his CDL driving license and was a skilled tractor trailer driver for many years. To my friend and co-worker Mark. We talked about old cars and trucks. He love trucks , he told me about his big truck etc. He worked on my driveway with his backhoe. It is a sad day today, after knowing about his departure, He was always present on wakes as I recalled. To me that is a good friend, in the good but also in the bads. He did a lot, transporting goods for a co-worker who was going thru a bad times. He was always ready to help. My condolences to his family from me and my wife . We will missed you.

To Marks family, (Dino, Patty, Kim) I cannot begin to sense the depth of your loss. My deepest condolences to you all. Mark had recently said how much he cherished the time that he was able to spend with you, his parents along with the projects that he and his father had taken on. He told me that his relationship with you both, was the best it had been in a long time and he was grateful for all that you did with and for him.
Mark was a true friend and my closest friend. Mark was always willing to drop whatever he was doing if he thought that I (or anyone that I knew) needed help.
We got involved in some absolutely crazy projects together over the years, like taking down that huge tree in his front yard, and then one in mine. Somehow we survived the many adventures. My grandson Logan was 5 years old and with us when we took that tree down. He adored Mark. Even at his young age he was with us doing many projects. I told Mark often that he was the most stubborn person that I had ever met, and he would just laugh. In some way, I think Marks determination and stubbornness were actually a strength of his. I could write a book and fill pages. Mark and I spoke almost every day and both cherished our friendship. Marks strong areas filled in for the weaknesses in mine and we would always find a way to finish what we started. My life has been better because Mark was a part of it. Mark made understanding things that I knew little about, simple to understand and I learned much from him. Mark was one of the most giving and selfless people I have ever known. I will truly miss him. I am trusting in Gods gentle and loving hand to sustain you all through this difficult time. DMV
